Okay, so I know the title of this blog could get me into some trouble, but as I was blog stalking this morning, I remembered a conversation with a friend regarding our husbands and one of their shared nasty little habits. The BK, as I have mentioned, likes nice cars. Our current car is nice, but is definitely a downgrade from the vehicle he previously owned. This predicament has resulted in, at a minimum, two conversations per week as follows:
BK: Hey, so I was looking at cars today..
Me (interrupting): WHERE were you looking at cars today?
BK: RELAX, I was looking online.
Me (eyes rolling): Okay, AND?
BK: Well I found a really nice one.
Me: Mmmhmmm (still reading my magazine).
BK: You wanna see it?
Me: What kind of car is it?
BK: [Insert ANY kind of car that is nicer than our "boring", "uncomfortable", "noisy" Honda Accord]
Me: How much does it cost?
BK: [Insert ANY amount over $0 which is what we owe on our Accord]
Me: How many miles?
BK: [Insert ANY number over 50k since I refuse to buy anything new - and the cars he is looking at aren't cheap]
Me: Well where is it?
BK: [Insert ANY town located outside a 50 mile radius since he likes to buy from CarMax and the cars he picks NEVER seem to be anywhere near us, requiring a plane ride and a long drive just to pick it up, or a $500 transport fee]
Me: Mmmhmmm (back to reading my magazine)
So apparently, this conversation sounded pretty familiar to my friend. In fact, she calls this phenomenon "Car Porn", and she was readily willing to admit that her husband was also addicted. Honestly, the BK can spend hours looking through listings of cars for sale. He may even dream about it at night. Who knows, I only know that the Accord must feel ashamed.
For my part, I am becoming addicted to reading other people's blogs, but "Blog Porn" just doesn't have the same ring. Suggestions welcome.

Well, there is a solution to this problem. My hubby works for Carmax! No lie! He is a buyer and travels all over the west buying cars at auction. It's great! He gets to go spend the comapanies money on sweet cars. PROBLEM SOLVED. I can see if they are hiring :)
Your blog is always entertaining. Sorry ours makes you homesick, but not too sorry because it would have really been fun to have you out here to ease us into the VA culture. Any suggestions about good food on a budget, cool, little-known things to do/check out/see would all be welcome. Thanks again Jen and look into that Carmax opening for the BK!
At least your husband's addiction is a small bit interesting. Matt wastes countless hours weekly on Mac stuff. Macworld, Mac rumors.... there are hundreds of blogs about this stuff. So we have the same sort of conversations, but to me it just sounds like, "Wah, wah wah wahhh." I don't get hard drives, giga bytes, mega pixels.....whatever it is they keep reinventing so we have to spend more money.
that's pretty funny. Good luck with that. Tell the BK to call me, I'll chat with him about cars. I love cars, and would love to spend a couple hours just test driving them, for the fun of it, not to buy of course. You make me laugh.
